Public Relations Drone

The Multirotor Robot Design Team attends many recruitment and outreach events throughout the year, and often enjoys performing live flight demonstrations. To better suit our needs, we decided to design a multirotor robot focused on safety and aesthetics.

The goal is to have a multirotor that is safe to fly indoors and near crowds of people, that also looks great and represents our team. The frame will be composed of lightweight and strong carbon fiber with foam encompassing the edges around the propellers for extra safety. It will also sport an array of LEDs that will catch the eyes of anyone watching the flight!

Public Relations Testing Platform

As the 2018-2019 competition year started, it was time for the team to look into having a new and improved testing platform. Although our PR frame was designed to hold very little electronics, the team was able to retrofit the frame to hold our standard flight sensors and boards.

The video below shows the PR frame utilizing our new and improved flight software that allows it to steadily move in any cardinal direction.
